When it comes to hiring a contractor, trust is a major factor!
When you are hiring a contractor, be sure to ask these questions. They will provide you with a good foundation to build on for the entirety of your project.
DO they come recommended by a trustworthy source?
ARE they licensed and insured (including Workers’ Compensation)? Ask to see current copies.
ASK to see their Virginia Contractor’s License.

If someone acting as a contractor cannot produce a license, they’re probably not a legitimate contractor.
HOW long have they been in business, and what’s their track record?
DO they have a physical business location that you can visit, or do they work out of a truck? You can find us here.
WERE the contractors respectful? Did they return your phone calls in a timely manner?
DO they have a professional appearance (including their vehicles and equipment)? This is another major factor when hiring a contractor. If they can’t keep their vehicles and equipment clean, are they going to keep your house clean?
ASK them for at least three references. Then call those references!
“But they aren’t going to give me the names of those who’ve had a bad experience,” you may think. Perhaps not, but check anyway.
CALL at least three other businesses for prices. Be wary of the “lowballer.” How do they undercut prices?
OBSERVE: A quality contractor will be on time, be knowledgeable, work neatly, and clean up properly.
